The Proximity Effect
Why is a disciple-making movement growing at an unprecedented rate in a part of the world where there is both cultural and political opposition to Christianity?
Why is the western church (which has more freedom and resources than any time in history) producing spiritual consumers, but not disciples?
These are the questions that led us to northern India in 2023 to discover how a one-on-one disciple-making movement in a hostile spiritual environment has produced 30 million disciples of Jesus in the last 30 years.
Two Eight, in partnership with The Fortress Foundation, is producing a documentary called The Proximity Effect about an unlikely pairing of Christ-followers making an unbelievable discovery and wondering how we can apply what we learned back here in the US.
When we say “The Proximity Effect”, what we mean is this - the closer you are to Jesus, the harder it is to remain unchanged. That idea turns out to be the ‘secret-sauce’ to the surprising growth of a movement that not enough people are talking about.
Two Eight’s role, along with the Fortress Foundation, to oversee all aspects of the documentary production with the goal of getting it marketed as widely as possible - so that people can learn from and be encouraged by this truly remarkable disciple-making movement
